6 months

Sorry I have been so slow to update the blog. It's a crazy time of year for me at work and my sweet daughter has not been sleeping well at night. But here are her six month pictures. We went for her six month check up and shots over spring break. She was 14 lbs, 14 oz--gained 10 pounds in 6 months. That put her in the 25th percentile for her weight. When you see those chubby cheeks, it's hard to believe she is below average for her weight. Her length was in the 75th percentile and her head circumference was between 50th and 75th percentile. The doctor was pleased with her development.

Her umbilical hernia has closed up, so no surgery needed--an answered prayer!!! She continues to have periods when her skin is broken out with eczema, but it is only patches usually and clears up within a week or so when we use the prescription cream. She continues to be a drooler having to wear a bib all the time so her clothes don't stay wet all day.

Addison is eating very well and is now enjoying sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, peas, zucchini, applesauce, and pears (all homemade) as well as bananas added to her cereal. The only food she would not eat so far has been peaches. She has been hesitant to eat banana, but will tolerate it when mixed with cereal in the mornings. She is also enjoying drinking from a cup now at meals (formula) and between meals (water).

Addison is a very happy baby and is full of funny sounds and precious smiles. She is beginning to have a little stranger anxiety and will give unfamiliar people the "pouty face" when they talk to her at times. She always gives it to my brother, Scott, and usually whimpers up and cries if he's around. That what he gets for aggrevating her since birth. Addison makes lots of sounds and loves to have people talk to her and she will talk back. She loves to scream too. Tonight we were at the mall and she and Wayne were sitting on the benches outside of a store while I was trying on clothes. While I was in the dressing room, I could hear her happy little squeals and other noises from outside. Her voice definitely travels.

Addison is rolling from tummy to back which she has been doing since February. She hates to be on her tummy and will not roll from back to tummy. However, when I put her on her tummy and put pillows on her sides so she can't roll off her tummy, she is beginning to scoot backwards. I'm afraid crawling is not far away! I kind of like her not being mobile. She is already always on the move even though she can't go anywhere yet. I can only image how busy she will be when she can actually get around. Joy--I think she is going to give Emme a run for her money!

I'll try to post more pictures and a few videoes soon. I've got a cute video of her happy screams while she was sitting in her high chair as well as a video of her swinging in the backyard. We are taking advantage of every warm days and excited for summer to arrive.

Let's Eat!

First time to try sweet potatoes--Valentine's Day

Tonight Addison tried her first green veggie--green beans. Of course I started her with my favorite green veggie. She gagged a little in the beginning, but was persistent and finished off the whole bowl. This girl can eat!

Addison started eating rice cereal the day of her 4 month check back in January. She stayed on rice cereal two times per day for a month and had her first vegetable, sweet potatoes, on Valentine's Day. We have added a new vegetable every week since then. She is now enjoying sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, and green beans. Although she was a little hesitant with her first bite of green beans tonight and she even gagged a little, that didn't deter her from eating more. She finished the entire bowl. This girl loves to eat!! I'm making homemade baby food for now--we will see how long that lasts. ;-)

On February 14th, we helped Stephen, our oldest nephew on Wayne's side of the family, celebrate his 4th birthday at Pump It Up. A great time was had by all. I think there were more big kids (aka adults) playing at times than there were kids.

This morning we woke to about 1 1/2" of snow. Throughout the morning it has continued to snow. It's just beautiful. We ventured out for about 10 minutes just to get some pictures. Don't worry Nanny, Nana, and Granna--we had Addison bundled in 4 layers! Addison didn't know what to think about the snow. She looked around and seemed to know something was different, but she was very serious the entire time we were outside. Hope you all are bundled up and enjoying the beautiful snow with someone you love!

Addison at 5 Months

It's so hard to believe baby Addison is already 5 months olds. These are the pictures we took of her on Feb 12th, her 5 month birthday. Addison continues to be a wonderful, happy baby. She is laughing out loud daily when she is tickled or when she sees something she thinks is funny. She is roll from tummy to back without assistance and is very close to sitting unassisted. Right now she still needs a little support at her back because she tends to get excited and fall backwards. She likes to be upright and fusses when put on her stomach. She also enjoys standing with support. Addison is very good with her hands and is reaching and holding on to lots of things. She is trying her best to get to the keyboard as I am typing this. She is babbling alot and has discovered squealling in the past week. Addison is now eating rice cereal every morning and has also started eating sweet potatoes and carrots in the evenings. We will introduce a new veggie each week now. She enjoys eating her veggies--at least for now. Addison is growing so quickly. She is long so she is outgrowing her one piece outfits (3-6 months) quickly. Her 3-6 month outfits that have a top and pants still fit well although the waist in some of the pants are still too big. Addison is beginning to show her "additude" more and more at times. For example, she is fussing at me now because I won't letter her type. She knows what she wants and expects you to know too! Addison is sleeping through the night from about 8:30-5:00 during the week. This morning she let us sleep in until 7:15. I was thrilled because is has been a trying week and I was worn out!

Wayne and I continue to marvel at this wonderful gift the Lord has blessed us with. She has changed our lives in so many ways and I am eternally grateful for it. I hope you enjoy this update on our sweet baby Addison.

Prayer Request: Please keep my cousin's daughter, Sarah Kathryn, in your prayers. She was injured in a soccer game Thursday night when she was kneed in the abdomen. She had to have surgery yesterday and they found that part of her intestine had been separated from her stomach due to the blow. She is in ICU now and will be in the hospital for several more days and will have a feeding tube for a while after she gets out. Please keep this sweet, active 15 year old in your prayers as she recovers from her injuries.

Look What I've Found!

I've found my feet!

In the last few weeks, Addison has discovered her feet and her thumb. She has enjoyed chewing/sucking on her hands for a while. But recently, her target of choice has been her thumb. When she stirs during the night, I can hear her sucking on her thumb. I guess that's better than having to go find her pacifier for her, but I see braces in our future! She has also discovered her feet. When she is sitting up and has shoes or socks on, she will track her feet back and forth as she kicks. If she is barefooted and on her back, she will pull her feet towards her chest and hold on to her feet with her hands. It's so cute! She hasn't gotten her toes to her mouth yet, but I'm sure that will happen soon.
